Recreation

  • Museums—Our Children’s Museum includes activities for kids of all ages. The Houdini Museum is located in a “castle," and our Paper Discovery Center is a fantastic place to learn about the industry that gave birth to and has long supported the Fox Cities. 
  • Parks—Appleton has more than 27 parks! One favorite is Memorial Park, which includes a huge flower garden, ice-skating rink and a playground built  to fit the needs of disabled children.
  • Trails—High Cliff State Park offers hiking trails, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, fishing, swimming, camping, rock climbing, sailing and an observation tower with a spectacular view of Lake Winnebago.
  • Sports and recreation—Appleton is home to its own Minor League baseball team, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and the Fox Valley is just 30 minutes south of the Green Bay Packers. Other popular sports in the area include hunting, fishing, running, biking, and canoeing.
